Hey there,
I finally got about writing my braces update post! Whoop whoop! I know I'm pretty late on this, but nonetheless, here it is!
There hasn't been a drastic change other than having more gaps between my teeth thanks to the extra space left behind from the extraction site. These gaps have been causing some problems for me, such as food getting stuck in between or food falling out of my mouth uncontrollably. (sulks)

I actually wanted to take a pastel pink color rubber bands for the 4th month, but half way through the appointment they realized they did not have sufficient bands in that shade, so they asked me if I would like to change to purple or finish up the remaining ones with purple bands. I pictured myself with pink bands on the front teeth and purple bands at the back, and decided I had better not because I'm going to meet many new people this month (orientation :3) and I would rather not draw any extra attention to my mouth by having multi-color bands.
The light blue bands during the 3rd month were beautiful, but they put so much emphasis on my teeth everytime I talk because the light blue appears slightly white, which was not an effect I was going for. By the end of the month, the light blue bands have turned yellow completely as lighter colors are more prone to staining. Sigh..

For the bottom rows during these few months, I suppose the main focus is to cover up the gap at the extraction site. During the 3rd month I had addition chains of bands overlapping my back few teeth, and for the 4th month I finally had on some power chains only on the left side of my mouth.
I have no idea why the metal on the right is bent, but I hope it will not affect or slow down the shifting process. During the 3rd month I had to bear with the pain of the extra extending metal hooking onto the back of my cheek. I even grew a super huge ulcer that made a whole area of by gum white. As usual, I was too lazy so I tolerated the pain and managed to wait until my 4th month's appointment to get them cut off. However, being absent minded, I actually forgot to request during the appointment and left the clinic with the wires still hooking my back cheek. After i remembered, my mom made me go back to the clinic and request for the dentist to cut the extra metal off for me. It was quite embarrassing, knowing that there was a long queue at the dental clinic and yet I had to hold up the queue because of my forgetfulness. But oh well, at least I am no longer in pain now. (wide grin) By the way, the power chains HURT LIKE HELL!!! But the pain only lasted for two to three days, and thankfully the dentist only put them on for the left side so I could chew on the right. I'm happy that it hurts, because that means its working!
Everytime I brushed my teeth, I would realize that the 2nd last teeth in the bottom row have been tilting inwards more and more. Sometimes I feel like its been jamming against my tongue quite a bit, and I have never felt this before. I have no idea if this was supposed to happen, but I trust that my dentist knows what he's doing.
I feel like even the top row's curve has become narrower, comparing the 4th month's to the 1st month's. This is probably because the back teeth are tilting inwards more than before as well.
Besides the leftover extraction gaps, the other teeth towards the front are gapping as well. The 4th month's one is actually even more obvious. I hope the dentist will decide to start shifting the front two teeth inwards as soon as possible and start closing all these gaps.
See what I meant? These burdensome gaps.. But with gaps, my front teeth can shift back! Woop!
Oh, and something funny happened during my 4th month's visit. I received a call a week before the appointment, telling me that the dentist is away on 24th (my actual appointment date), so I had to reschedule my appointment. I was told that there was a slot for me on 26th June 11am. So on 26th, I happily went down to the dental clinic thinking that I can finally get those pricky metals out of my ulcer, but got a huge shock when I was told by the receptionist that the dentist is still on leave today and I must have gotten the wrong date. I was quite pissed with the receptionist because she immediately pushed all the blame to me, saying that it MUST BE my mistake, and never once apologized for my inconvenience. How can she be so sure it was MY fault, and not hers, as she was the caller who contacted me? I guess people are just so afraid to take responsibilities for the mistakes they caused, and the most convenient way is to push the blame. I was so mad at her I could not utter a word back to defend myself. I just checked when was the right appointment date (which was the next day..), and stomped out of the clinic in silence before I called my Mom and complain about this shit service.
The best thing is, the next day when the dentist is around, this receptionist girl had a completely 360 degree different attitude than before. I suppose the dentist had instructed them to have good customer service, and so she had to put up a show when the dentist is around, but when he's not, she forgets all bout providing customer service and resumes to her rude and cowardly self. Thinking back makes me mad again. Urghhh.
Alright, that's it for now!
XOXO,
Iris
